Tale As Old As Time

Although my daughter's 5th birthday in May was Frozen-themed, I took the opportunity to wear a tribute to one of my favourite Disney Princess movies: Beauty and the Beast. Set in France, gorgeous scenery, nonchalant bookish babe who couldn't care less about fitting in,, brutish beast with a broken heart of gold, magical singing and dancing objects - this movie has stood the test of time for me!

This adorable mini-dress is from Hot Topic. Yes, I would normally feel like a senior citizen amongst their typical demographic, but I have to say their Disney clothing selection is pretty age-appropriate for mostly anyone and are vibrant, versatile pieces to have some fun with your wardrobe.

I've always LOVED the stained glass images in Beauty and the Beast, so the stunning print on this dress instantly put on a spell on me. I was afraid to get my usual size (medium) since Hot Topic's sizes are listed as "Junior", so I sized up to avoid looking like a sausage. However, the large was actually a bit big, so it does run true to size and not just for teenaged girls. With 5% spandex (the rest is polyester), the black bodice is thick and has a bit of stretch to it. The bottom section of the dress has a short black lining underneath the enchanting chiffon overlay skirt.

This charming old-world looking stopwatch necklace with the Eiffel Tower on the face perfectly accents the "time" theme in the movie. The ruby-red jeweled filigree ring mirrors the red tones in the stained glass portraits, especially of the roses.

There is also a stained glass Maleficient version of this dress, and many other Disney characters. With some edge and grace, you can always add some magic to your ensemble by letting your inner child choose your dress! Shop the Disney collection here.

OOTD - Leopard & Lux

July 18

White "Dolly" Top - Pinup Girl Clothing
Leopard Pencil Skirt - Pinup Girl Clothing
Red & Black Cruiser Tote - Lux DeVille

I wore one of my favourite combinations on a shopping date with my best friend - the white "Dolly" top by Deadly Dames for PinUp Girl Clothing (PUG), and the leopard print pencil skirt, also by PUG. Both pieces are sexy, but very comfortable. This can be achieved! As the designer states, the Dolly top is cut to enhance all your "bad girl curves", and it certainly does. The front ruffle detail and princess sleeves conjures up badass bodaciousness, while still being feminine and classy. People will still look you in the face while talking to you when you wear this.

I have several of PUG's stretch cotton pencil skirts because they are a classic in any wardrobe - so they're a necessary addiction. They range from solid colours such as black, red, navy (and coming soon for Fall, royal purple and olive) as well as an adorable cherry print, polka dots, and elegant painted florals. This leopard print one is a must-have, as I have stated before that leopard print is a neutral in my world. These high waisted skirts are extremely comfortable, which is why I wore it for such a casual excursion. I also wore these to work on a regular basis, and it's easy to take them from day to night. It also has a 10 inch slit at the back, which will give you a sassy wiggle when you stroll or strut.

Lux Deville creates the cadillacs of the purse realm. The Cruiser Tote, in ruby red and black, is merely but one of their gorgeous designs. Complementing sparkle with shine, it also has chrome hardware such as the chevron logo and feet to keep it standing up, leopard print lining, and pockets inside and outside of it. It's very well made and has a sturdy zipper. This baby is also bigger than it appears, so can fit tons of your essentials with ease. Just be aware of the little feet at the bottom - they are sharp. I poked myself a million times while still getting used to the purse's otherwise glorious presence. This purse, along with all the others, come in a myriad of shimmer and shine combinations, such as red, white, mint, green, purple, and leopard print.

Dress Up

No matter what position you are in, it is important to dress for success. I've also faked my way through some tough days just by wearing a great dress and 4 inch high pumps. Although I am a stay-at-home mom now, I hope I still make good use of my favourite outfits that I wore to the office!

Je rêve de Paris

La Belle Paris Singlet Top - Kitten D'Amour
Kinky Ruffles Skirt - PinUpGirl Clothing
 Lace Booties - Christian Louboutin
Cat's Eye Sunglasses - Tres Noir
                                                         Retro Rosie Bracelet - Modcloth

My soul is still wandering around in Paris. I hope she's wearing something like this. I love this stretch jersey tee from Kitten D'Amour, from their La Belle Paris collection. The pretty original artwork, featuring a cherub, the Eiffel Tower, and roses, is reminiscent of the old world romantic charm that I love. Black french lace sleeves and neckline accented with red grosgrain bows is elegant and coquette-ish all at once.

Alluring and sophisticated, the Kinky Ruffles skirt (by Deadly Dames for Pinup Girl Clothing) is a wiggle skirt with a mermaid flare, enhancing curves to the highest level. Lace booties, by no one other than Parisienne Christian Louboutin, tres chic cat's eye sunglasses by Tres Noir, and an inexpensive but opulent bracelet adorned with resin red roses finishes this gorgeous look.

OOTD - Provencal Lavendar

July 5, 2014

Maxi Skirt - Suzi Shier
Violet Jewel Necklace - Cara Accessories for Chapters/Indigo

My inner-Goth has finally made amends with some pastels, which I thought would never happen. Last year, pushing myself even further to step outside of my comfort zone in terms of colours, I started being drawn to lighter shades like mint and lavender. These hues are great on darker skin and don't make me feel like an Easter egg.I also have a weakness for lavender as it reminds me of the landscapes of one of my favourite places in the world - Provence, France.

I just purchased this gorgeous necklace yesterday, while out shopping with my best friend. It was in the accessories section at Chapters Indigo bookstore. Not only did it complement my top, but my bank account liked it, too. Originally priced at $48, it was reduced to $4! When is anything ever 92% off these days? It is sold out online but there's lots in store.
